Getting Started

Only the beginning

What’s up my friend! Here we are at the beginning of something…or at least about 3 sips of coffee away from being a something. If you’re a coffee lover like me, or 90% of adults in America, then this statement might be entirely accurate. As for you other 10%, I am deeply impressed with your Unicorn ways, and you are GOALS for sure. My name is Ambrosia Carey and my natural inclination is to explain myself something like this, “I’m a Hairstylist, Salon Owner, and Educator from Portland, OR.” Soooo…not the most inspiring description, but a straight forward, nuts and bolts of what I DO. But who I AM is a little rough around the edges, soft in the middle. Awesome, now I’m describing a cookie.

Maybe I should just go straight into WHY I do what I do. My entire PURPOSE on this planet is to transform a belief. Okay, I realize that’s a really big bite I just served up, but throughout my  life, for whatever reason, I was led to believe life had certain expectations. We get a good job. We meet a successful man. We get a nice house. We pay our taxes. We blah, blah, blah, snore…now I really want a cookie. Well, here’s a little secret, a little “life’s cookie” metaphor for you…WE can do it ALL, and guess what?  The only expectations are those you have of yourself.

That statement may have come across as a little bit reckless. We do, after all, have to pay our taxes…and trust me, I learned the hard way. Remember what I prefaced earlier, I’m here to transform a belief.

When I was younger, I believed that if I just had THIS, I could have THAT. I was a walking, talking projection of expectations. Because I allowed expectations to be the reason behind what was happening to me, I didn’t have to take accountability for anything, it was truly amazing! You want to know what else it was? It was incredibly lonely.

It wasn’t until I received a phone call informing me I had accrued several debts and that if I didn’t start making payments soon, my wages were to be garnished. Garnished? Imagine the look on my face…nothing like this sweet candid shot above, I can tell you that much. That was the day I lost trust in the belief of expectations and adopted my 2.0 version of beliefs that it will be what you believe.

And this my dear friend, is where my coffee is now gone, and we have come full circle. Right at the very beginning. I invite you to subscribe, so you can come back, and we can start taking our first steps toward the never-ending transformation of beliefs. Let’s also close with one last thought…since homework is a bit formal & NOT FUN.

  1. Why do you do what you do?

  2. Do you lead with expectation or belief?

If you’d like to share your thoughts on this, I would love to hear from you as well. In the meantime, welcome to the beginning and I’ll see you in 2 weeks!

Your favorite friend!
